Although ATKV members enjoy preferential reservations at the resorts, the ATKV's long-standing policy is that the resorts are open to the general public. With the dawn of the new political dispensation, the ATKV, based on decisions of various congresses, unequivocally supports this new dispensation.
The ATKV sees itself as an active player in building new structures for the future and becoming an indispensable part of an inclusive South Africa that is acceptable to all involved, including its members.
Holidaying is one activity that links almost exclusively to the recreational component of culture. For this reason the ATKV aims to make the holiday experience of the Afrikaans cultural community as pleasant as possible. The holiday pattern is aimed at family life and focuses on aspects as family entertainment, safety, a tranquil holiday environment and holidaymakers who respect and complement each other's needs.
The following rules need to be adhered to at our resorts to ensure a pleasant holiday experience for all:
- A limited number of day visitors for resident guests
- No alcohol at swimming pools
- A zero-tolerance policy on drunkenness
- Recognition of the human dignity of all parties who visit the resort as paying guests
This policy is applied to provide all visitors with an atmosphere in which they can truly relax. This is reinforced by giving every visitor the chance to experience the environment and all entertainment presented by the ATKV. Any person or persons who fails to adhere to these rules will accordingly receive one or two warnings, followed by punitive steps. Unpleasant behaviour may lead to the removal of the person from the resort.
To ensure that day visitors do not spoil the fun of resident guests, prior arrangements must be made with the resort for day visitors to be allowed access. This is particularly important during school holidays and over long weekends. Because of the flood of visitors to recreational facilities over long weekends and the school holidays in April and December, only a limited number of motor vehicles are allowed at each resort.
Please note: Day visitors must be ATKV members and/or members and family of resident guests who are already holidaying at the ATKV resort concerned and who have made the necessary arrangements with the resort where the visits will take place. Day visitors of resident guests may visit the resorts daily from 07:00 to 21:00. Day visitor's fees are available from the various resorts on request.
