ADDITIONAL INCOME
Recruit other ATKV members and earn commission of R60 per member. Upon recruiting a member, you earn loyalty points according to the ATKV's loyalty system.
DISCOUNT
A discount of 20% to 30% applies to accommodation or camping facilities at any of the ATKV's six top resorts after six months' membership. This discount is calculated based on your loyalty status (see loyalty table for details). The main member or spouse must make use of the accommodation or camping facilities to qualify for the discount. Bookings for December school holidays close at the end of January. The discount applies only to the unit occupied by the main member or his/her spouse.

ACCIDENT ASSURANCE
The official ATKV assurers shall pay an amount of R10 000 to a legal personal representative of a full ATKV member, should the member die in an accident anywhere in the world, upon the understanding that the membership fees are fully paid and that the accident happen while the full member travel as paying passenger using public transport such as a bus, taxi, train, aeroplane or boat. This benefit only applies to main members aged 15 to 70 years.
SCHOOL AID FUND
A limited number of bursaries are available to assist members' children in case of a true need, with school fees or school wear. Application forms are available from the ATKV Head Office. The closing date is 30 September of each year.
DEATH FUND
Cover for family members includes:
- Main member and spouse - R2 000
- Children: birth to 5 years - R250
- Children: 6 to 13 years - R500
- 14 years to coming of age, or until the child is employed on a full-time basis (whichever occurs first) - R2 000
Pensioned and honorary members, that attained such status before 31 August 1986, shall receive a death benefit of R250, because their membership fees have not been raised. A person aged younger than 55 on inception of membership, become members of the ATKV DEATH FUND.
STUDY LOANS
The ATKV offers bursaries and study loans to members and their dependant children. In the past study year (2008), the ATKV received 147 study loan applications and 103 study loans were approved. A total amount of R1 030 million was approved as study loans for the particular year.
In 2009, Hendrik Broekhuizen of Paarl, was the recipient of the ATKV's annual bursary of R20 000. Hendrik is enrolled for MCom Economy at the University of Stellenbosch.
Between 1990 and 2008 an amount of approximately R12 281 million was approved as study loans, benefiting about 2 103 students.
Study loan applications are considered based on need and merit. The current study loan amount awarded per student amounts to R10 000 per annum. Loans are approved for repayment over a period of one and a half times the loan period.
The applicable interest rate is three percent per annum during full-time study and is increased to eight percent as soon as the repayment period starts. Application forms are mailed to interested parties from April each year and the closing date for study loan applications is 15 October of each year.

How to earn HolidayRands
HolidayRands may be earned on short-term insurance and home loans that are obtained through the ATKV's referral system from BondExel.
HolidayRands are additional benefits, apart from normal membership benefits that apply at ATKV resorts. If you book your holiday at an ATKV resort, your membership discount will be determined first, before the discount based on HolidayRands may be applied to obtain an additional discount of up to 80% of the accommodation account.
The remainder of your HolidayRands are transferred to obtain a similar discount on your next holiday. One HolidayRand represents a discount of R1,00.
Home Loans to obtain HolidayRands
When you apply for a new home loan, or an extension of an existing bond, a percentage of the value of your home loan shall be awarded as a once-off benefit upon registration of your bond. ATKV CHAPTERS
Culture is alive! If you wish to meet people that feel like you about culture, you may join an ATKV Chapter in your area. That will provide your family and you the opportunity to join others, learn new things with others and express your cultural passions. The ATKV Chapters (interest-related chapters and youth chapters) give free reign to culture by arranging festivals and concerts, offering courses and simply having fun while allowing you and others to express yourselves with joy in Afrikaans! Contact the Chapters Division at our Head Office. The division will help you join the right chapter.
YOUTH MEMBERSHIP
If their parents are ATKV members, children aged 13 to 25 years that are not married and are not gainfully employed on a full-time basis, may apply in writing to become members of the ATKV. These youth members may join ATKV chapter activities and have the right to vote at the annual Congress. Such members are not entitled to any other rights or privileges.
WHAT TO DO IF I DO NOT WISH TO RECEIVE COMMUNICATION BY E-MAIL OR SMS FROM THE ATKV
If you do not wish to receive communication by SMS from the ATKV, please send an SMS containing the word STOP to 35477. Such an SMS costs R3,00
TERMINATING MEMBERSHIP
A member may terminate his or her membership in writing. The termination becomes effective at the end of the calendar month of the month following the calendar month in which we receive the termination request. If a member's membership fees are outstanding for a period exceeding 60 days, the membership is terminated automatically. Please note that membership fees are not refunded in case of cancellation or termination.
